Background

Endeavour X provide Digital service for the retail and hotel industry in Endeavour Group and did an amount of fabulous work. In this project, they want to create a unique online experience to share their story to attract top talent and spark pride and joy in their people.

Affinity Map

The main findings came from hearing many voices from users and seeing what they saw. The three leading insights I found are linked with working culture, real-life in work and the pathway to EndeavourX.

How is the culture there?

It is imperative for me to understand who works there. I want a social firm with similarly aged people and mixed diversity."

How is the real-life there?

“Overall, the website looks very wordy, like it’s lifted from a slide deck off a corporate report, or it’s trying to sell to potential investors.”

How to access it?

55% of people were unable to find a job with EndeavourX via the careers portal

  • Concerned about time because she is still working

  • Work more than three years in tech but still looking for more opportunities.

  • Looking forward to a good culture in her next role!

How Might We

Here are two different pain points that come up to this project, and during the way to engage the talents with the EndeavourX, we come up with 2 HMW questions:

  • How might we convey the real-life culture at EndeavourX in a way that is authentic to Michelle?

  • How might we help her know more about the application process before applying for jobs?

Develop

Ideation work shop

For generating more possible ideas from different perspectives, we decided to have one ideation workshop to get opinions from other Michelle in our friends and family.

  • 7 Participants after they quick answered HMW questions through crazy 8s'.

  • Participants also provided more fresh ideas through Hot Potato.

Deliver

Hi-Fi Prototype

Alongside the EndeavourX design team, we create a new site of Career portal and a site page for Company brand awareness, real-life culture and career development. 

 

After 4 times iterated based on feedback from the usability test, we find out the big small and exciting emotions of the users:

  • “I like this, the design is simple and clean” (Jordan)
     

  • I like the landing page. That looks cool (Sarah)
     

  • Endeavour X used short quizzes to recommend work to me is a very novel approach, I am very interested (John)
     

  • The quizzes result is exactly what I want. I like the result. (Eloise)

Reflections

I am enjoying this project for seeing the big smile from the lead team in EndeavourX that firmed me to keep running on the way of UX design. I appreciate the chance help me refine my skills including storytelling, research, insight, UI design, and Usability test.

For my grown up in this project, I would say:
 

  • Keep Insight from users helps me understand more what users need, that helps me speak for the users in design.

  • One designer is hard to give out the best design with out testing, the more I tested, the perfect the solutions is.

  • A good design system is helping team iterating faster and have enormous benifit for keeping deisgn consistency.

I wish to keep learning with a great group of people and build significant change in the UX world. A great thank you to EndeavourX lead team and the Academy Xi teaching team.
